The Great Zimbabwe was settled by the 4th century and the name is translated into the local language meaning the house of stone. The ruins are one of the oldest and strongest structures in sub Sahara Africa. We will spend our morning marveling at the structures and the highlights of the ruins are The Hill complex with its commanding views , The Valley Complex comprising of the most ruined and rubble but also the most important area in terms of archeology  as most of the ancient artifacts have been found in these area. The Great enclosure is without doubt the most visually impressive part of the complex. It was the last to be completed and displays the most advanced building techniques. The last highlight is the Zimbabwean Birds collection section for the ruins
